This 11th edition of our Lunar Calendar 2026 features acrobats, African architecture, Persian women playing drums, an escapee from the Harem, and an astounding history of a remarkable woman. The stories these panels tell are always unexpected. I was unprepared for the elephant in the living room. I don't know why it's there - that might be for you to decide. I just work here.

Simple, uncluttered "down sheets" - for those who actually still mark appointments. This format also allows the pattern of the moon phases to be more visible, making it easier for you to track the procession of the repeating phases. Basically, we get a new moon phase approximately every week. Easy Peasy!

Inside the front cover, I divulge the origins of many of the images. Sometimes I am unable to trace the source of an image. I've often relied on the Pre-Raphaelites and vintage illustrators like Rackham and Dulac.
Picasso is quoted as saying, "Good artists copy, great artists steal." Igor Stravinsky and T.S. Eliot echoed similar sentiments, and even Shakespeare borrowed plot lines and scenes from other writers. Most of the images I use are from the public domain, but I'll admit to a few instances when I joined the club of thieves. Don't tell anyone.

After a 20 year career in community-based Public Health education and independent research into the mysteries of the female reproductive cycle, this calendar came into existence to help women recall the genius gift of our ancestral Grandmothers: a nature-based, non-toxic method for training the unruly cycle.
"Menstruation is naturally reckoned by women, in every part of the world. by the changes in the moon." - wrote Robert Briffault, in his book, "The Mothers - The Matriarchal Theory of Social Origins", published 1927. The moon's phases are signals to our fertility, and once we understand this 'lunar language', we can use it to regulate our cycles, making them more predictable. When we have entrained our cycles to that Clock in the Sky (a phenomenon technically known as Lunar Menstrual Locking), we can more easily and accurately forecast the menstrual period, allowing us to clear other obligations out of our schedules, and plan a day (or two, even?) for simply pampering ourselves. A Hot Springs Day, a Nap Day, a Do Nothing Day...we can really benefit from this restorative interval.
MoonTiming neither prevents pregnancy nor guarantees it. But whatever your reproductive health goals are, regulating the cycle is a great help in achieving them.
And to think you can do all this by simply starting to watch the FULL Moon, and telling yourself: right now, women all over the world are ovulating, and will be menstruating in two weeks. This is my time to ovulate. I embrace this signal. It may take some months, or happen almost immediately. It is my contention that the wisdom of our ancestral Grandmothers still resides within us as a memory, although we may have forgotten how to employ it for our benefit. My job is to 'wake up' this memory.
My inter-active curriculum for tween and teens girls was nominated for a national award in Sexuality Health Education by Girls, Inc.
MoonTimer workshops have been given for the Latina Health Summit, the Women of Color Conference on HIV and AIDS, Lake Middle School, Mile High Mental Health Center, and Sisters of Color United for Education.
We engage in a lively conversation, exploring the evidence that confirms the efficacy of the system worked out by our Grandmothers, touching on social anthropology, etymology, astronomy and the mythology surrounding the cycle. And, yes, we have the science! It might be called "What No One Ever Told You about the Menstrual Cycle". You will come away knowing how to read the Lunar Language - the signal that each moon phase conveys to our physiology.Even if you are past your reproductive years, these phases hold meaning, and its a wonderful thing to share with younger women in your world.
